When a women is interested in a man I think it’s a good idea to tell as many mutual friends as possible that you are and hope one of them passes the message along. (this of course doesn’t work with online dating). That way the man has the information that if he asked you out he wont get shot down but if he isn’t interested he doesn’t have do the asking out and face is saved. This worked when me and my sister first had our eyes on our future husbands who were a bit shy. Someone passed the word and they were like “Really??” and then they made their move.
We discussed before that a man will sleep with a woman far below his usual type so when a woman far below asks him out he’ll accept and do the bare minimum for the hope of a sexual payoff. Men can say how they would just love to be asked out but the reality is most of us women have tried it with horrible results. Men won’t say no like a woman who knows right off the bat she isn’t interested but they will go and string someone along and then do the blow off/fade.
When a man asks you out the odds go up (not 100%) that you are his type and he’s excited at the prospect of going out with you. And as Moxie said below women spend far too much time salvaging a lousy situation rather then walking away.
